Case Study: Ceramic Industries
 Mandate: To find a more cost effective way to distribute tiles from factories in Babelegi and Van der Bjil to main centres along the coast, namely Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Durban.
Solution: An inter-modal solution using road for pickup and delivery, and using rail for transport between Gauteng and the coast.
Challenges: Critical transit times are being managed jointly between LQ and the various retail outlet owners. All retailers including CTM work on a JIT system.
Loading profiles needed to be designed and implemented to eliminate any risk of damage.
Result: Contract has been renewed twice and volumes continue to increase.
