Case Study: SAB.
Mandate: SAB wished to phase out all old quart bottles and introduce a new shaped bottle. This was to be done over eighteen months and rolled out and completed on an area-to-area basis.
Solution: A multimodal solution based on spare capacity. If road had spare capacity then done by road, and if rail had capacity then on rail. Cost was a major determining factor.
Challenges: All existing distribution activities by SAB were to continue. This project needed to run concurrently, without hindering normal operational activities.
Result: Within two years all quart bottles used by SAB had a new shape. LQ co-ordinated all rail and inter modal activities associated with this project.
